Designed for use with electronic modules, transistors, amplifiers etc. (IPC-0572-P). where the current required is not more than 1A, this power supply provides a smoothed and regulated DC output voltage with a ripple typically less than 50mV. Output up to 15VDC positive and negative (with respect to zero) in 5 stepped ranges: 5, 6, 9, 12 and 15VDC. The outputs are from three 4mm sockets: positive, zero and negative, colour coded red, blue and black respectively. The outputs are switched by means of a rotating knob. Overload and short circuit protection is built in. An illuminated on/off switch is mounted on the rear panel adjacent to a fused appliance inlet. Housed in a robust metal case with a durable powder coated finish.

Our mini national grid system is a very cost-effective way of teaching the principles used by the National Grid to supply electrical power to our homes. This kit comprises two printed circuit boards and a set of "HT" leads to interconnect them and is SELV (Safety /Separated Extra Low-Voltage) classed, which means that no part of the system is at more than 50 volts - which means it is very safe and suitable for student use. The system allows the user to compare electrical transmission at low and high voltages and the results are displayed by the brightness of the two on-board MES lamps which are supplied.
This includes kit includes the use of a safety mains lamp socket, which has a built in a switching system that only allows it to be switched on when a lamp is inserted.  We have also included two switches, which must be pressed simultaneously to route the mains current through the low voltage lamp. Furthermore, the switches are sited at opposite ends of the case, requiring two hands to operate them.  However, it must be appreciated that you are working with potentially lethal voltages and currents and therefore extra care should be taken.
  • Supplied with 1 x 240V 100W lamp and 1 x 12V 5W lamp and mains power lead.
  • Simulates resistances from 1Ω to 999,999Ω in 1Ω steps
  • The required resistance is set by selecting the correct value from six rotary decade switches which clearly indicate the value selected by the student
  • An additional 1kΩ resistor is provided connected between one of the terminals of the internal resistance and a third terminal so the unit can be used as an accurate potential divider
